used to emphasize that something is good in a bad situation: The car was damaged, but at least he wasn’t hurt. At (the very) least At (the very) least means not less than: It will cost at least $1000. I’ll be gone for two weeks, at the very least. At least At least can also be used to reduce the effect of a statement: I can handle it – at least, I think so.
