producing a relaxing feeling of physical comfort esp. because of shape or materials: a comfortable bed/car/dress Are you comfortable or is it too hot? Comfortable also means relaxed: I’m not comfortable speaking in front of an audience. Comfortable also means having enough money for a good standard of living: They’re not rich but I think they’re quite comfortable. In a competition, if you have a comfortable lead over the other competitors you are winning easily.
