Definition

waste material, esp. unwanted food, or a container in which waste is kept: She threw the cheese in the garbage. Take the garbage can/bags out to the curb to be picked up. There will be no regular garbage collection Monday. We were stuck in traffic behind a garbage truck (= a large vehicle that collects garbage from containers outside buildings).
