› the activities of a business carried out by people who communicate by telephone, email, and the internet, etc., rather than working together in a building: They work out of their houses, connected by computers, fax machines, and conference calls in a virtual office. The virtual office may work well for disciplined people but not for people who don't have a strong work ethic.
