the distance that a vehicle has travelled or the distance that it can travel using a particular amount of fuel: 'What's the mileage on your car?' 'Oh, about 40,000.' Smaller cars have better mileage and so cost less to run.

mileage noun [U] (MONEY FOR TRAVEL)

(also mileage allowance) the amount of money that you are paid or that you must pay for each mile you travel: The car costs £30 a day to rent, but you get unlimited mileage (= no charge for the miles travelled).
